 Welcome to NFSFacts.com

Dwight Ferguson My name is Dwight B. Ferguson, Jr. I am the President and Chief Executive Officer of NFS. Welcome to NFSFacts.com.

First of all I want to thank you for visiting this website, and for your interest in NFS. I believe NFS is an important part of this community, and that people should care about significant activities in their community - this web site is provided for just that purpose. NFS has been part of the Erwin community for over 50 years, and is proud to provide high quality fuel to our Navy, as well as recycling cold war nuclear materials for use in commercial power facilities.

NFS has carried out its mission over the years with an utmost concern for the safety of our employees, our community, and the environment. However, due to the nature of our business and the unique environment in which we operate relative to information protection, many opportunities have been lost in the past relative to communication with you – that is all changing. Officials at the US Nuclear Regulatory Commission, working with counterparts in the US Department of Energy, have refined some of the post-9/11 policies concerning which information can be shared publicly, with a specific purpose to be as open as possible without compromising national security.

Due to the changes already made (release of key past documents), as well as those anticipated, NFS has created this website as a means for us to get newly available information to you as it is made available. Our intent is to make it easy for you to stay abreast of current safety and regulatory events, access data on our environmental record (water, air), and to point you toward other resources that can help to better inform you on important nuclear matters. Our intent is to be the most open nuclear fuel fabrication facility in the country.

Again, thanks for your interest in NFS.
