Mr. Nagy’s current assignment is Chief Nuclear Safety Officer for NFS. He also serves as the Corporate Radiation Safety Officer for all of NFS’ radioactive materials licenses and as the Ethics & Compliance Officer for NFS under the B&W/McDermott corporate program. In this capacity, Mr. Nagy oversees independent oversight related activities (quality assurance audits, advisory boards), the employee concerns program, liaison with the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, representation of NFS to the Institute for Nuclear Power Operations and the Nuclear Energy Institute, and allegation related investigations.
Mr. Nagy also represents NFS at public meetings and key industry and regulatory forums. Mr. Nagy has 25 years of experience in health physics, with 21 since receiving his Masters degree. He has obtained a broad experience in safety and safeguards regulatory affairs, administration, operational and technical health physics, and staff management while working at DuPont's New England Nuclear Corporation, Advanced Recovery Systems, Inc., and Nuclear Fuel Services, Inc. (NFS). His experiences include: support to legal counsel during litigation, budget development/management, operational readiness reviews, health physics, regulatory interfacing, emergency response, supervision of technical and non-technical staff, and management of corporate radiation safety programs.
Mr. Nagy is a key ground-breaker for NFS having generally served in new positions, and commonly acts as the lead agent for development of new program/systems at NFS. Continuing in this ground-breaking role, Mr. Nagy was selected by the new management team after the NFS acquisition by the Babcock and Wilcox Company to be the first Ethics & Compliance Officer, which is a function that reports directly to the corporate group level.
Mr. Nagy holds a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Environmental Engineering from the University of Florida and a Master’s Degree in Engineering (Health Physics), Environmental Engineering from the University of Florida.
